Over the course of the last month, DagensPS.se website has held a contest called Byråcupen (the Agency Cup), to identify Sweden's business community’s most popular advertising agency. Sixteen leading advertising agencies were randomly assigned positions in an elimination contest, where the results of weekly ‘matches’ were determined by the votes of visitors to the DagensPS.se website.
In the first round, Pyramid won easily over Forsman & Bodenfors, and the following week scored a similar ‘victory’ against Åkestam Holst. In the semi-final Pyramid beat out DDB and, in the final, Jung von Matt – both really strong agencies – by a slightly smaller margin. Last Friday, Pyramid was acknowledged as Sweden's most popular agency.
“Pyramid does not generally participate in contests where the advertising industry rates itself”, says Ulf Vanselius, Pyramid’s CEO.
“However, it’s always interesting to understand what customers think about Pyramid, and how they compare us to our colleagues. Just over a month ago, we were named Sweden’s ‘Agency of the Year’, an acknowledgement which we value very highly. The Byråcup is a slightly less serious event, but it still says a lot about our brand and our ability to cut through the media noise. The agencies we knocked out are some of Sweden's most competent and, even if this contest is more about general popularity, it is still fun to achieve a top ranking”.
“Right now, Pyramid is riding a strong positive trend, despite the industry’s generally tough times. In 2009, we increased revenues by over 30% and initiated new collaborations with twenty new customers. 2010 has been just as strong, and we have already initiated further collaboration with a number of customers. In principle, 2010 is already secured, and we now work can vigorously to further strengthen our position as Sweden's most international agency”, concludes Mr. Vanselius.
